There’s no milk in the fridges for our daily caffeine intake, there’s no money for the leccy meter, and the bosses are marching around Power Tower waving the severed heads of football traders in the air yelling: “There will be no more.”
It is a bleak day at Power Tower.
Arsenal’s victory against Aston Villa on Monday night meant that eight out of eight odds-on shots in the Premier League won at the weekend and Paddy Power was left counting the cost.
Dear Aston Villa, Could you please score a late equaliser? Thanks, Bookies Everywhere.

The Aston Villa shrine in the traders’ office was pointless and no amount of Christian Benteke-based prayer was going to stop the Gunners’ stroll to a 2-1 victory at Villa Park.
Throw in 11 of the 12 odds-on favourites obliging in the Football League on Saturday afternoon and it’s been a #BallofShame three days for Paddy Power.
The winning favourites did help blow away the January blues for a whole host of punters who had accumulators rolling over onto Monday night’s game. One punter in particular was hoping Arsenal held on as his 19-fold clicked, paying out more than £18,000 to a £1 stake.
That was already after two other monster accas clicked on Saturday to give two punters the guts of almost £40,000 and a fair few nights out they probably won’t ever remember.
Arsenal, Chelsea, Everton, Southampton, Tottenham, Man United, Man City and Liverpool did the business for punters leaving Paddy frantically throwing some signed Sophie-Ellis Bextor merchandise on Ebay to fund his recovery.
It’s all in vain, big fella…
