Video: This is how you warm-up when you play for the best team in the world

40-yard volleyed passes? Piece of cake...

by Josh Powell | February 10, 2014

A ‘warm-up’ with your Sunday League side generally consists of a couple of players doing stretches while everyone else tries to emulate Tony Yeboah by hooning 30-yard half-volleys towards goal. The most strenuous part of this warm-up is collecting the ball that has now bounced on to the railway tracks.

If you’re Lionel Messi and Dani Alves however, pinging 40-yard passes to each other without letting the ball hit the floor will suffice.

In total, the pair manage seven incredibly accurate long passes without the ball touching the floor ahead of Barcelona’s La Liga clash with Valencia at the Nou Camp. Eventually Dani Alves drops one short and a football purist sheds a tear.

Unfortunately the warm-up didn’t quite cut the mustard as Barca lost 3-2 to Valencia. They are now level on points with Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid at the top of La Liga with just 15 games remaining.
