To the bank! Nottingham Forest’s Jamie Paterson is the punter’s pal

The Nottingham Forest midfielder is in great goal-scoring form and can continue that run against Leicester on Wednesday

by Josh Powell | February 17, 2014

Jamie Paterson had made just seven starts for Nottingham Forest before the start of January, and had been struggling to get a look in for The Reds. That was before he banged a 14 minute hat-trick against West Ham in the FA Cup and started a run-of form that has been lining punters’ pockets ever since.

Paterson has eight goals in Forest’s last ten games and in that time has found the onion bag on average, every 94 minutes. When you’re right in the mix for promotion to the top flight, that’s the kind of record that’s not to be sniffed at.

Paterson’s hot-streak hasn’t just been benefiting Billy Davies and his Nottingham Forest team-mates. If punters have been coy enough to jump on the Paterson band-wagon the midfielder has been providing a far better investment than any bank in the land.

  • Paterson’s eight goals have come in five matches since January 5. Three of them were the first of the game
  • If you had put £10 on him to score first in every one of the last ten games, you would have returned £255 – that’s a return of 155 per cent on your investment!
  • Paddy Power are one of the few bookmakers to offer each-way betting and if you had put just £5 each-way on Patterson in Forest’s last 10 games, you’d be up £218.34
  • And if you had just stuck a tenner on Paterson to score at any time in the last 10 matches you’d be up £180, almost doubling your money

On Wednesday, Forest fans will be hoping Paterson can keep up his handy nack of finding the net as they host top-of-the-table Leicester at the City Ground (KO 7.45pm).

Although it looks tough enough to catch the run-away league-leaders a win would give Forest a handy cushion in the play-off spots and move them to within three points of automatic promotion. Tasty.

Punters wanting to get on Jamie Peterson’s gravy train while he’s in this sort of form can back the midfielder at 15/2 to open the scoring against the Foxes and 9/2 to score at any time in a Forest win.
