This week it was revealed that a 12-year-old John Bercow made his TV debut on kids’ gameshow Crackerjack. The pintsize future House of Commons Speaker came last, though at least he went home with a Crackerjack pencil as a consolation prize. He hasn’t grown much since, either.
Tory MPs eager to embarrass Bercow will surely not be able to resist the temptation to have some fun at his expense during today’s Prime Minister’s Questions. Paddy Power is offering a generous 3/1 on ‘Crackerjack’ to be said once during lunchtime’s session, which seem very good odds given the Speaker’s ever-decreasing popularity.
If you reckon Honourable Members fancy giving Bercow another reason to want to tone down boisterous PMQs debates, you can get 5/2 on ‘Crackerjack’ being said twice, 9/2 for three times and 5/2 for four or more. MPs may want to take a more subtle approach, so you can get 2/1 on ‘Don’t get your knickers in a twist’ being said, 8/1 for ‘Doh! and 12/1 for ‘Byee!’
Guido’s money is on ‘Crackerjack’ being heard once, too good value to turn down at 3/1. Tune in today to find out. It’s Wednesday, it’s 12 o’clock, it’s PMQs!
