Matt Chapman: Give Paddy a royal bashing with this 3/1 winner

Matt looks to boost the Cheltenham coffers with some weekend winners, starting at Sandown...

by Matt Chapman | March 7, 2014

Now Cheltenham is just days away, and I’ll be on the Paddy Power Blog every day to give you the latest news and advice. But before that we have a few chances to get some more cash in the bag so let’s see what damage we can do.

The big race on Saturday is the Imperial Cup 3.15pm at Sandown, and the field is not quite as tough to fathom as is usually the case.

There is no doubt in my mind the one to be on here is REGAL ENCORE, who of course was beaten at 1-4 last time but, with the benefit of hindsight, that was no disgrace as the winner is now rated in the 140s while Regal Encore can race off 130. I am not sure if JP McManus could have picked the handicap mark himself he could have got this horse so well in. He really does look good.

Flat-packed action

Away from the jumps, there is good stuff at Wolverhampton. HIGHLAND KNIGHT does not run on the all-weather very often, but he did not perform too badly over 10f at all 112 days ago and this is much more his trip. He can pop out and make all the running at 2.20 in the Listed Wulfruna.

The Lincoln Trial at Wolverhampton is at 2.55pm, and the one I like here is the Cambridgeshire 3rd TRES CORONAS. He has a win at Southwell to his name but connections know exactly what is takes to land these type of affairs and the Wolves track is running more like Southwell’s fibresand at the moment than a Polytrack so I am very hopeful.

So those are my three for the weekend. We are not going mad with Cheltenham around the corner. Paddy has many specials and offers available for you so keep an eye on the markets. The greatest show on earth. Worthy of a Yeeehaaa!
