So this is it – the final Daily Yeeehaaa! of Cheltenham 2014 and I intend to go out with a bang!
It’s been a good week for the PP blog and Dynaste was another tasty winner yesterday to top up our 45/1 treble on Wednesday.
Friday is all about the Gold Cup and I am confident last year’s hero BOBS WORTH (3.20pm) will win the race for consecutive years.
He made up for his Haydock flop at Leopardstown last time and can run on strongest up the hill. The decent going will be no problem.
We kick off with the Triumph Hurdle and the one to be on here is the highly-rated CALIPTO (1.30pm) He is unbeaten in two runs in the UK and beat older horses at Newbury last time. He is sure to run a big one for Paul Nicholls.
The County Hurdle is tricky cavalry charge but ARCTIC FIRE (2.05pm) is worth a few quid for the Irish champion Willie Mullins. The horse has been working with the likes of Faugheen and could be up to beating more experienced rivals.
Banker of the week
BRIAR HILL (2.40pm) is one of my bankers of the week and I hope he bolts in and hits Paddy hard.
I’ll have a few quid on TAMMYS HILL (4pm), who has long been among the top hunter-chasers in Ireland and may enjoy conditions despite plenty of soft ground form.
THE SKYFARMER (4.40pm) can bounce back to winning form on this better ground. He was beaten on heavy going last time but had previously won four-in-a-row on good ground.
We end the meeting with the Grand Annual Chase and I’m hoping CLARET CLOAK (5.15) can run a big one. He wasn’t too far behind Hinterland last time and previously been beaten a nose by Manyriverstocross who was seventh earlier in the week.
I’ll be back for the weekend racing on the PP Blog. But let’s hope we end Cheltenham 2014 with a bang and Paddy’s pants stay pulled down Yeeehaaa!
