It’s finally here and regular followers of the Paddy Power Blog will know we are sitting pretty with TEAFORTHREE (4.15pm) ante-post at 25-1.
We just need him to slip into the frame now to make a nice profit and pile on the misery for Paddy. Love it. You hear me Paddy?
There are plenty o decent races to get stuck into bar the National and I think we’ll have a bit of fun backing WILDE BLUE YONDER (1.30pm) each-way in the opener where Paddy’s giving money back on whoever finishes second and third.
He showed what he can do when fifth to Vautour in the Supreme Novice’s at Cheltenham when he stayed on well up the hill. The step up in trip could be just what he needs.
In the race before the main even, DUKE OF LUCCA (3.25pm) could go well at reasonable odds. He was sixth in this race last season and is down 6lb in the ratings. Fluent jumping will be the key in this competitive 3m 1f puzzle.
Just a handful turn up for the Maghull Novices’ Chase which is often won by a decent type. Irish raider Trifolium – who was third in the Arkle at Cheltenham will have his supporters. But I have a feeling BALDER SUCCES (2.05pm) will be hard to beat. He has been saved for Aintree and the decent ground will be right up his street.
World Hurdle winner More of That is missing from the Stayers’ Hurdle – but that leaves the door open for AT FISHERS CROSS (2.50pm) who finished third to him at Cheltenham. He’s high-class, his jumping has got better as the season has gone on and he can get his head in front for the first time this season.
So good luck and let’s make the Grand National 2014 one Paddy never forgets – by ripping into his profits with a winner! Yeeehaaa!
