Your WrestleMania XXX racecard for the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal

That's right. We're deadly serious.

by Josh Powell | April 5, 2014

WrestleMania is here and for every man and woman trying to relive their glorious youth, it is the biggest event of the year. Forget the World Cup, forget the Grand National. This is glorious sport at it’s finest. Kind of.

Anyway, for punters who fancy a cheeky gamble on WrestleMania, but haven’t watched wrestling since the days DX were running the show and Stone Cold Steve Austin was the main event, we’ve tried to help you out. One of the biggest matches at WrestleMania this year is the ‘Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal’.

We’ve put all the contenders onto a race-card, similar to the ones you’d see every day in the papers to help you chose your challenger. There’s recent form (since the match was announced in mid-March), wrestler’s name, associates and tag-partners, place of birth, course and distance form (the course being WrestleMania and the distance being a Royal Rumble), age, weight and the latest odds.

It’s everything you need in a race card, but it’s for Wresting. The lads in the Racing Post have missed a trick if we’re honest. Now take a peek at this bad boy and get all the info you need. We’ve even written a tipping blurb at the bottom.

First thing to take note is that, unlike the Grand National it is better to be heavier in this content, and consequently nearer the top of this list. Hence Big Show (3/1) could tempt a lot of punters being top-weight and having four course wins to his name.

The short price favourite Alexander Rusev (6/4) has never wrestled before so, much like a two-year-old gee-gee bought at the sales by Godolphin the market is telling us a lot. He’s a red-hot banker in a lot of people’s books and his weight and youthful exuberance could see him through.

Other notables are Cody Rhodes (18/1) who has won at the course before and comes into the event in the best form of the lot. Similarly Sheamus (7/1) has back-to-back wins and is one of just three competitors to have course and distance victories under his belt. The Irish warrior might just be getting a few of our patriotic pennies before Sunday’s extravaganza!

All prices were correct as of midday Saturday April 5. However due to the unpredictable nature of WWE, these prices are subject to change.
