Matt Chapman exclusive: Four Saturday TV tips to leave Paddy on the ropes

There's some cracking racing at Haydock and Kempton on Saturday and I'm all over it. Yeeehaaa!

by Matt Chapman | April 17, 2014

I hope Paddy had a Bad Friday and I’m here to make it a worse Saturday. You hear me Paddy?

At Kempton the Listed Snowdrop Stakes and this should be between Zurigha and Zibelina.

Both have been off the track for about the same time, but the former has to give 3lb to ZIBELINA (2.55pm) who also has a better draw. She looks a good bet.

The selection was a Group 3 winner in France last season and was not beaten far at Sandown. A mile is her trip and she should run well.

The race after – the London Mile qualifier – is a competitive contest. I’d like to see Loving Spirit score as he often runs crackers in big events but has still only won once. However, off a mark of 100 it will be tough.

I like race-fit TIGERS TALE (3.30pm) who went up 3lb for scoring at Kempton 24 days ago. He has crack apprentice Oisin Murphy on board who will take off 3lb so actually runs off the same mark. He might not get an easy lead this time – but can still run huge.

At Haydock, the good ground will be a different experience for many of these horses. The one I like in the feature is BINCOMBE (3.15pm) who comes into the race in good form. He’s won his last two races, trainer Philip Hobbs is flying and Paddy’s paying the first five home.

Bincombe is up in class and also in the weights, as he runs off 119 now having been 112 when scoring last time at this course. However, he’s lightly raced and improving which cannot be said for a lot of these.

Finally, in the 3m4f Chase, we need a right old plodder and I think I have found one in BENNYS WELL (3.50pm).

He’s one of the most consistent horses in training, having been in the first two in his last six starts. He was a good winner at Haydock and although he’s up 6lb I think he can go in again.

He’s as slow as Paddy when it comes to buying a round…but that’s what we need here.

So have a great Saturday, and let’s try and get some money in the bag before a crack at the Irish Grand National on Easter Monday. Yeeehaaa!
