It was an emotional night for Barcelona last night. They said goodbye to Tito Vilanova with an immaculately observed minute’s silence and then put their fans through the mill with a rousing comeback in the last 25 minutes to turn a 2-0 deficit into a 3-2 win that keeps them just about in the race for the La Liga title.
That should have been the headline story, but sadly it wasn’t thanks to the racist behaviour of one moron fan. Near the end of the game, Dani Alves goes to take a corner. A banana gets thrown at him and in response, the Brazilian full back picks it up and eats it, cleverly disarming the incendiary gesture by taking the piss out of it.
We have suffered this in Spain for some time. You have to take it with a dose of humor. We aren’t going to change things easily. If you don’t give it importance, they don’t achieve their objective
