Paddy Power is refunding all losing bets on Irishman Dan Martin to win the Giro d’Italia after the Garmin-Sharp rider suffered a broken collarbone following a crash in the opening stage in Belfast.
The Garmin-Sharp rider suffered his second stroke of bad luck in a matter of weeks when he took the spill following a pile-up in the time trial stage in Belfast on Friday. Less than two weeks ago Martin was denied victory in the Liège-Bastogne-Liège Classic when he crashed going around the final corner.
Wet conditions and a slippy man-hole cover resulted in the Garmin-Sharp team suffering a four man pile-up but only team leader Martin suffered a serious injury.
It’s bad enough that Martin won’t be able to complete the rest of the event in front of a home crowd, you shouldn’t be made to suffer too. Which is why we’ve refunded hundreds of bets to our customers.
