Wow! Hope you were on Australia at Epsom! Yeeehaaa! What a time for sport, with Paddy Power going Brazil Nuts for the World Cup, US Open and Royal Ascot, which is just around the corner and I’ll be bringing you all the news every day all five days next week.
While we hope the trio provide Paddy with much pain – his team of course is not even in the World Cup! – we have a weekend of racing to enjoy to try and get some cash in the satchel.
Let’s start with the Queen Mother’s Cup at York, and I’m confident PEARL CASTLE (2.05pm) will run a big race here for the excellent rider, Serena Brotherton.
Jockeyship is key in this ladies event but Pearl Castle was a much better hurdler than recent winner Kings Bayonet, and is relatively lightly raced on the Flat. Could be well in.
The Scurry Stakes at Sandown has a big field and while others have higher ratings take an each-way chance with REROUTE (2.55pm).
She’s lightly raced and ran well on the seasonal debut at Bath, finishing strongly behind the talented Ladies are Forever. She took on some decent animals at two and can progress.
Frankie’s on board
Back at York, the Listed Ganton Stakes only has seven runners, but have a few quid on FENCING (3.15pm), who has found Ocean Tempest too hot in his last couple of starts but has a great chance here. Frankie Dettori is a good booking, and big dangers Lockwood (trip) and Guest of Honour (form) are worth taking on.
If big-field sprints are your thing check out the Scottish Sprint at Musselburgh. While it’s not an imaginative selection, I can’t see BODY AND SOUL (3.35pm) out of the places after a cracking run at York.
With Caspian Prince set to crack out from stall 17, the selection should get a great toe into the race and can pick up the pacesetter close home. Everything is right, and the fact Body and Soul stays 6f is a bonus.
So enjoy your weekend, but keep some cash safe for the five days of Royal Ascot that starts on Tuesday. It’s going to be huge here at Paddy Power and I’m certain we can make Paddy miserable in his topper by hitting his profits hard. Yeeehaaa! #comeonengland
