Brazil’s 3-2 win on penalties against Chile was a cracker and threw up a first goalscorer debate. This market raises the kind of tension normally reserved for Mark Lawrenson’s annual performance review.
David Luiz was credited with this goal (which was actually an own goal) after 18 minutes in Belo Horizonte on Saturday evening, but Chile drew level through Alexis Sanchez 13 minutes later.
Why are we telling you this? Because to celebrate the general fantastic-ness of the World Cup (and avoid the Twitchfork brigade) we’re paying out on Luiz and Sanchez as first goalscorers.
It’ll cost us a bloody fortune, but, hey, you guys are worth it. And dangerous.
Now this is going to take a little time to process so we’ll need you to be patient as we get back to work after Jager-bombing through the spot-kick cliffhanger.
We’re also getting round to refunding as a free bet on all losing first/last, correct score and scorecast bets because the game ended in a penalty shoot-out (one of Paddy Power’s big World Cup offers).
What’s that? We’re amazing. Aw. Your round.
