The fillies take centre stage on day two at York with Irish challenger Anthem Alexander and Tiggy Wiggy going toe-to-toe again after their Queen Mary Stakes smash-up.
Throw Albany Stakes winner Cursory Glance into the Lowther Stakes mix and this looks like a genuine decider for the title of champion two-year-old filly over the 6f trip.
Classic winning filly Taghrooda lines up in the day’s feature race – the Yorkshire Oaks – and this should be a routine stepping stone to the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe for the King George VI winner.
However, neither race appeals as a betting proposition. For that I’m looking to SHORT SQUEEZE (3.05) in the Clipper Logistics Handicap.
He’s struggled a bit this term following last year’s breakout season – but did run well last time at York though when fourth to Alejandro.
The handicapper has dropped him a couple of pounds and over an extra furlong with top Irish jock Pat Smullen booked he can go close at around 8/1 in a race we are refunding single stakes on the 2nd or 3rd placed horses as a free bet.
