The good, the bad and the unlucky: Here are your best Cash Out stories from the weekend

One punter turns £5 into £1k in just 24 minutes and Everton's collapse doesn't affect one shrewd iPhone user

by Josh Powell | August 26, 2014

Recently the tech nerds in Power Tower finally realised that The Big Bang Theory is just the same three jokes repeated consistently series after series – Sheldon is a socially awkward nerd, Raj is foreign and Penny is hot but dumb. LOL indeed. Luckily this revelation gave them loads of free time to set up Cash Out on football accumulators, bringing a whole new level of excitement to your weekend.

Punters have been taking advantage of our brand-spanking new Cash Out function, and we’ve gone through the reports to pick out the best stories from the last week or so, and one that was a particularly hard-luck story.

Cashed out before the collapse

This punter from Surrey used the Paddy Power iPhone app to have £50.83 on a football sixfold at the weekend at odds of 54/1. After all the 3.00pm games had clicked he was waiting for Everton to beat Arsenal at Goodison Park in the late fixture. The Toffees went 2-0 up and it all looked rosy for this punter as he waited on returns of just under £2,800. But whatever it was that persuaded him to cash out, it was an inspired choice. This punter cashed out for £2,022.09 and then saw Everton collapse in the final eight minutes as goals from Aaron Ramsey and Olivier Giroud would have wiped out his acca.

Almost €500 in the bank despite United’s stumble

One Irish punter from Tipperary placed a €2 ten-fold on his phone and still cashed in €466.14 from Paddy’s bank account despite man Utd letting down his 3,687/1 accumulator. He went through the Premier League card and United was the only side to let him down with Man City obliging on Monday night. After landing eight legs of his punt Louis Van Gaal’s side were struggling with Sunderland late in the game, and this punter happily took a cheeky €466 to boost his Sunday bank balance.

Making just under £1k in 24 minutes

Another online punter from Surrey played a super in-play hand last week and cashed out a £5 five-fold, 24 minutes after placing it for a sweet return of £927.45. One of his punts – Nottingham Forest – were 1-0 down when he placed the bet so he bagged them at 22/1 before they then went 2-1 up. Doncaster’s late equaliser against Preston, Luton’s last-minute equaliser against Bury and Brentford’s winner against Blackpool meant just two of his five legs won, but that didn’t stop him making almost £1k. Cha-ching!

Draw of the same in this hard-luck story

A London-based punter placed an adventurous €50 162/1 four-fold on four draws across three Champions League Qualifying games and the Spanish Super Cup. After Arsenal’s stalemate with Besiktas and Napoli’s 1-1 draw with Athletic Bilbao this punter cashed out for €539.84. Nothing wrong with a tidy little midweek profit to put a smile on your face in work the next day. However Real Madrid and Atletico then played out a 1-1 draw and Maribor and Celtic followed it up with another 1-1 result, meaning this punter missed out on potential winnings of  €8,125.92. A tough result to take, but at least he’s got more than €500 to numb the pain.

Cash-Out-Punter-Four
