The LoLs could be heard all over the UK and Ireland. Stylish Leicester City stuffed plucky Manchester United 5-3 on Sunday at the King Power Stadium.
Regular readers will be aware of Stupid Punt, our weekly feature which mocks seemingly ridiculous bets such as this scoreline.
Well, seven Paddy Power online customers are indeed laughing this afternoon. They had the correct score of 5-3 to Leicester at pant-moistening pre-match odds of 500/1. The biggest stake was a fiver, from a London customer. Probably a United fan.
Of these magnificent seven customers, six were UK-based while just one was from Ireland, registered in Dublin but none was from Leicester. United had gone into the game as 4/7 favourites with Leicester at 5/1 for a home victory.
A spokesman for Paddy Power said: All that money, you’d really think Louis van Gaal would’ve bought a defender or two. David Moyes is starting to look like a bit of genius.
One customer had the correct score but missed out as he had Leonardo Ulloa as first goalscorer as part of the punt. Tough break.
Meanwhile, Leicester are up to sixth. United are 12th. Go home, Premier League – you’re drunk.
