Paddy’s Punt: Here’s a max bet message for Saturday’s Racing Post Trophy

I'm going out with a bang at Doncaster for the last English Group One race of the season.

by Paddy Power | October 23, 2014

Doncaster hosts the final Group 1 of the British flat season tomorrow with the Racing Post Trophy. Its been a decent guide to the English Derby with Kingston Hill winning last year before finishing second at Epsom and winning the St Leger last month.

Newbury and Leopardstown also provide some Stakes race action with the St Simon Stakes looking interesting and the jumpers take centre stage in the Old Roan Chase at Aintree.

Racing MBS

But for this weekend’s bet we’ll stick to the main attraction at Doncaster where Elm Park is the favourite.

He comes here off the back of a remarkable victory last time out at Newmarket. Having blown the start and failed to handle the undulations of the track he showed an iron

resolve to eventually win comfortably. That may not have been much of a race but this doesn’t look a particularly strong heat either.

Dodgy temperament

Second favourite Jacobean is still a maiden while Celestial Path showed signs of a dodgy temperament last time and the easing ground is a further concern.

With Elm Park being versatile tactically and on the ground – I fully expect him to leave these standing like trees. He rates a max bet.
