6 Reasons to get excited about the return of the NBA

by Rob Dore | October 27, 2014

The NBA season returns this week and there are far more reasons to get excited than just the ones we’ve laid out below. For those of you who started watching the NBA during the Jordan-Pippen era you’ll be glad to know the Chicago Bulls are a force to be reckoned with again. Although their season may hinge on the extremely talented Derrick Rose and his glass knees. Kobe Bryant, barring injuries, is a lock to overtake Michael Jordan in the all-time scoring charts. Tim Duncan is back for another season. The NBA are bringing in video replays, which should be fun until the novelty wears off. Who doesn’t want to see how Damian Lillard improves with the Portland Timbers this season?

1) Opening Day free bet offer!

2) The King is Home!

LeBron James has left South Beach and returned home to his home town of Cleveland in an effort to finally bring a championship to the Cavaliers. Loaded up with stars like Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love, the Cavs are the 3-1 favourites to win the championship and James tops the list at 10/11 to be the MVP. James may have had to go to the Miami Heat to pick up a few Championship rings but this season’s Cavaliers could be the most talented supporting cast of his career. They have been priced at the juicy 18/1 to set a new regular season record with 73 or more wins!

3) The San Antonio Spurs

San Antonio Spurs trophies
The most likely team to get in the way of James’ quest for a third NBA title are the San Antonio Spurs. The reigning NBA champs have retained the core of their playing list, with the timeless Tim Duncan again going around with two sidekicks Tony Parker and Manu Ginobelli. They are the 4-1 second favourites to win the championship. Also watch out for the improving Los Angeles Clippers at 9/1 and the sharp-shooting Golden State Warriors at 25/1 .

Every day present a buffet of delicious NBA to sink your teeth into, perfect for creating an mouth-watering ACCA where Paddy Power will give you an extra 20% on your winnings! bon appetit. (TBC)

Jay-Z’s very own Brooklyn Nets take on the Milwaukee Bucks in London and the Houston Rockets play the Minnesota Timberwolves on the 12th November.

Enough said. Last season this high-flying forward from the Clippers had 176 dunks during the regular season. Watch them all here:
