Punting Hall of Fame: How one guy turned £2.50 into more than £2.5k by calling every one of Tuesday’s League Cup games

Take a bow son, take a bow

by Josh Powell | October 30, 2014

The Capital One Cup can often be a punting minefield. Managers play a weakened side, teams priorities are on the league or in Europe, the lower league clubs pull every trick in the underdog book. We’re talking cold showers, battered changing rooms, bobbly pitch, and lunatic fans. Overcoming all of those elements is no mean feat, but being able to call all five of Tuesday’s matches down to a tee, is nothing short of spectacular.

One punter from Cornwall absolutely nailed by predicting all ten teams would find the net and calling the winner of each of the five games. That means he turned his £2.50 stake into just over £2k, and then benefited from an extra £430 courtesy of Paddy’s Acca Bonus on WDW-Both Teams To Score accumulators. Incredible stuff.

A lot of these monster punts benefit from their fair share of luck, and this bet was no different. With just four minutes left on the clock Liverpool and Sheff Utd were both 1-0 down and West Brom had just equalised against Bournemouth. But five very late goals, including Dejan Lovren’s winner for Liverpool five minutes into injury time, ensured this punter would be dancing the night away at whichever upmarket establishment people go to in Cornwall these days.

If you’re not yet overcome with jealousy, you can check out the bet in full below.
