Melbourne Cup Infographic: A handy guide to picking the winner of the race that stops a nation

If you love your racing more than your sleep - we've got the Flemington feature (4am) covered.

It doesn’t take much to keep an Australian from work but our cousins ‘Down Under’ in Sportsbet have put together this pretty snazzy infographic to help you pick the winner of the race that stops a nation.

Top-weight and favourite Admire Rakti has been well punted since winning the Caulfield Cup over 1m 4f last month and is housed in barrier eight with Fawkner (9) and Junoob (7) on either side while Ed Dunlop’s Red Cadeax is close to becoming an Aussie citizen as he tries to land the 2m handicap at the fourth attempt.

He’s been second twice including when filling the runner-up berth to Fiorente last year and races from stall 15 in the early hours.

Top jock Damien Oliver is going for back-to-back wins in the Melbourne Cup and a record-equaling fourth win in total and rides York Ebor victor Mutual Regard – trained in Ireland by Johnny Murtagh.

The former Irish Champion jockey also saddles Royal Diamond who bid to become the first horse since compatriot Vintage Crop in 1993 to win without a prep race in Oz.

Lightning to strike twice at Flemington?
