We’re almost a third of the way through the Premier League, and with Christmas quickly approaching, the charge for the Fantasy Football title starts now. We’ve gone to the trading room floor to see who is most likely to bag the goals and keep a clean sheet this weekend as our assault on the top four begins.
Chelsea are the only odds-on side to keep a clean sheet this weekend when they host West Brom at Stamford Bridge. This revelation would normally cue a Branislav Ivanovic love-in where we talk all about how he is the complete defender and rub our thighs Vic Reeves-style. Unfortunately he will cost you 7.2 on the game and has gone eight weeks without a goal or an assist, so we’re on the hunt for a cheaper alternative.
That man is Erik Pieters. The Stoke defender is just 4.8 and although the Potters can boast of just two clean sheets this season, they have a very winnable home tie this weekend against Burnley. Aston Villa are the only side in the top flight with a worse attacking record than Burnley and that could mean a valuable clean sheet, and four precious points, for Erik Pieters. Villa incidentally, play Southampton on Monday night, and Nathaniel Clyne should also peak your interest at 5.8. Seven clean sheets, one goal, one assist and a total points haul of 63 points should be all the persuasion you need to splash some cash.
Staggeringly 13 of the 20 players in the above list play for either Manchester City or Chelsea, so if you don’t have a squad packed with those players you may be in trouble already. Both sides have home ties against Swansea and West Brom respectively, and it’s a coin toss to who you should break the bank for and captain. Sergio Aguero is slightly more likely to find the net at anytime according to the traders and will set you back 12.7. He has 12 goals and 14 bonus points in 11 games. Diego Costa is cheaper at 11.0 and can boast of 10 goals and nine bonus points in nine games. It has to be one or the other.
Elsewhere Oscar has got our interest at a price of 8.4. According to the odds he is more likely to find the back of the net this week than Raheem Sterling who costs a touch more. Oscar has two goals and an assist in his last four Premier League games and could add another to his account at home to West Brom.
This weekend it’s all about Chelsea and Man City going forward however so beg, borrow and steal the cash to bring these lads into your side.
