Another Saturday, another weekend of top class jumps racing. If you haven’t already guessed from the sudden burst of Christmas jumpers that look like they’re the result of an explosion at a wool factory, Christmas party season has begun in earnest.
So we’re guessing there’s a decent chance that rather than waking up at the crack of dawn, downing a bowl of muesli and freshly squeezed grapefruit juice, going for a spritely 10km stroll and then cracking open the newspaper for an in-depth study of the form as you may have intended, there’s a decent chance you downed eight bottles of wine, stayed out until about 5am and woke to a thumping headache and a load of text messages, the gist of which are ‘HOW COULD YOU DO THAT TO THE CEO’S PORK SCRATCHINGS????’
The chances are, you didn’t have time to meticulously pick out all of today’s winners, but never fear, we’ve got your back. We gave top jockey Ruby Walsh, top pundit Matt Chapman, top mysterious tipster, TurfTalk Tom and not at all mysterious Paddy Power racing trader who works only a few yards from our desk a holler to ask them who’s going to win some of the big races this Saturday.
Last week had mixed success. Ruby tipped up a 3/1 winner and we had placed horses at tasty odds of 12/1, 8/1 and another 8/1, but unlike a glass of manky grapefruit juice, we want more!! Here’s what the lads are tipping up for five of the big races this Saturday.
The New One and Rock On Ruby get something approaching consensus support. They’re both Cheltenham specialists and the double pays around 5/2. Not likely to pay for Christmas, but maybe enough to give Santa’s elves a decent night on the town and a kebab on the way home. Tis the season. Happy punting.
