One lucky punter’s Saturday went from being pretty average, to absolutely brilliant in little over 20 minutes today. In the same time it takes to throw together some oven chips and a couple of fish fingers, this online punter from Swindon turned £20 into £16,403.75 to be exact. If you don’t have your abacus to hand, that’s roughly the same as earning £750 per minute.
The latest entrant into our Punting Hall of Fame had a £10 each-way fourfold on four horses on Saturday only to see them all romp home to pocket him some huge cash. To rub salt into Paddy Power’s wounds, the punter also benefited from Paddy’s guaranteed prices, meaning when the odds of some of his horses got bigger after he placed the bet, he still got the bigger price.
Take a deep breath and check out how it was done:
Tea For Two 9/2
Smooth Stepper 5/1
Mount Corkish Girl 7/2 (Guaranteed price: 6/1)
Three Musketeers 11/2 (Guaranteed price: 6/1)
Now, if that 20 minutes of racing didn’t get the punter’s heart racing we don’t know what will. It is even more incredible when you consider the bet was placed less than a minute before the first race at 2.40pm. So from placing the bet to seeing the fourth and final winner cross the line, less than half an hour had passed. Worryingly some of the PP Blog team have spent longer than that in the jacks playing New Star Soccer, and none of us have come out more than £16k richer.
If you’re not already stung with jealousy at this punting stroke of genius, it’s also worth noting that this punter covered his bases with a £4 lucky 15 on the same four horses. A bet which cost £60 but returned £6,612.20, taking his winnings up to £23k.
Now that is a brilliant way to start the year. Well done that man.
