Un De Sceaux – the most exciting horse in training – gets an overdue crack at Grade 1 company in the Irish Arkle at 1.40pm on Sunday.
Despite it being a three-runner race – it won’t be easy.
The highly-impressive Limerick winner Gilgamboa is no mug and Vautour’s Leopardstown conqueror Clarcam gets a 10lb allowance as he’s only a five-year-old.
But I still fully expect Un De Sceaux to mercilessly gallop his rivals into submission.
The weather has been kind to Jezki’s connections. But given how unusually poor Hurricane Fly’s (above) jumping was the last time – I find it hard to see the result being reversed.
Neither of the selections are going to be a working man’s price -so we will look elsewhere for a value bet on the same Leopardstown card.
Champagne James will be favourite for the 2m 1f handicap chase. The problem with him is the word ‘chase’ in the title. His jumping leaves plenty to be desired.
So I’m going to take him on with Rafi De Triana (2.10pm).
He disappointed at Naas behind Leap Dearg – but there were excuses. The handicapper has dropped him 2lbs and in the expectation that the market will overreact. He could be a bit of value to upset the favourite Champagne James on a cracking day’s racing in Dublin.
