Aston Villa may not have picked up any points against Chelsea at Villa Park, losing 2-1, but every great journey starts with the smallest of steps.
Today that small step was scoring a goal for the first time since Neil Armstrong strode out on to the moon and made his own quip about walking. Or at least it was starting to feel about the same length of time.
No wins in eight Premier League games and no goals in over 11 hours of football . Today, however, that all changed with a little help from Paddy Power and the Villa fans as Okore netted one for the midlanders, at last.
Yes of course we’re claiming credit for it, that’s what we do.
After Villa fans had endured such a poor show from their team of late Paddy Power felt it was only right to step in and at least try to give the lads a helping hand. How? Well the bookmaker armed Villa fans with giant green (and it seems almost lucky!) arrows before kick-off against Premier League leaders Chelsea. After 48 minutes of pointing the team in the right direction Okore finally put the drought to an end, hurrah!
Paddy Power said:
“The goal wasn’t enough for Villa to get a win today, but we never claimed the arrows would work miracles!”
