Video: David Bentley takes to Gaelic football like a duck to water

David Bentley the ex-England player has decided to chance his arm at Gaelic football for local Co. Armagh side Crossmaglen

by David Lyons | February 19, 2015

David Bentley, once hailed as England’s replacement for David Beckham… is now a Gaelic footballer.

Okay okay, not really. The ex Spurs and Blackburn man has togged out for Co. Armagh’s Crossmaglen Rangers as part of a TV3 documentary. It sees GAA players swap players with various sports so Crossmaglen’s Aaron Kernan is off trying out Premier League football with Sunderland (can’t hurt), and there’s an ex Major League baseball player attempting to play hurling, with a Kilkenny hurler off to play ball for the Miami Marlins. It’s crazy stuff and we love it!

Bentley retired at 29, but perhaps he’s found his true calling? The man knocked over three points on his debut, one of which was this free. I wonder if Becks fancies chancing GAA…
