Paul Nicholls went all medieval on the Festival’s ass yesterday as he banged in a treble as we passed the half-way point of the Festival.
The perma-tanned Matt Chapman chalked up an opening-race double that included Windsor Park (9/2) while the PP Trader joined in with Aux Ptits Soins (9/1) in the Coral Cup. Ruby and Turftalk Tom kept it honest with RSA winner Don Poli (13/8f).
Ruby Walsh had to sit it out the Champion Chase after Un Atout did a fair impression of Luis Suarez and took a lump out of his intended mount Champagne Fever’s lip. But Walshy as we never, ever, call him is back to ride one of his naps of the meeting in Vautour in the JLT Chase and has tipped himself in our TV grid.
You’re allowed do that when you’ve ridden 44 Festival winners.
Tony Martin’s Edeymi has caught everyone’s eye as a potential plot in the Pertemps Final but the Ryanair Chase and World Hurdle are dividing opinion as much as Jeremy Clarkson as the team look for even more winners.
