After a Cheltenham we’ll never forget we went and smashed the Midlands National last Saturday with Goonyella. Of course every winning run can be followed by a losing one – but you have to enjoy the good times. You hear me Paddy?
It’s a tough weekend with five TV handicaps to concentrate on Saturday between Newbury & Kelso – but I’ll do my best to sort out a winner or two.
Let’s start with the Mares’ Final at Newbury (2.35pm) which looks impossible! Cresswell Breeze has been improving but has surely reach its limit off 130?
Spartan Angel appeals for the Henderson & Geraghty combo at the bottom of the weights. But have a few quid each-way on HANNAH’S PRINCESS for World Hurdle winning team of Gavin Sheehan and Warren Greatrex.
She only went up 2lb for an easy success last time and might well improve for a step up in trip.
The 3m 3f handicap hurdle at Kelso (2.50pm) doesn’t get any easier. RACING EUROPE has done well since stepped up in trip and might will be well handicapped off 125. Imperial Cup hero Will Kennedy takes the ride.
Newbury gets in on the act with a 3m 2f staying chase at (3.10pm) and HANDY ANDY has been consistent without winning for Colin Tizzard and can put up a bold show.
Just the five runners go to post for the Handiap Chase at Kelso (3.25pm). The one I like is OSCAR FORTUNE. He won last time out at Haydock, is lightly raced and open to improvement for the Jonjo O’Neill team.
The juvenile handicap hurdle at Newbury (3.45pm) sees ALZAMMAAR get a nice lump of weight off top weight and class act Golden Doye. It could be worth backing the Greatrex and Sheehan team to double up.
Best of luck. It looks a tricky day but when the going gets tough, the tough get going. Yeeehaaa!
