Dodge, Duck, Dip, Dive and… Jump.
We’ve known Ruby Walsh for a while now, but every so often he manages to surprise us by doing something just a tad different. With the Grand National fast approaching, Ruby has revved up his preparation… by jumping his horse over a speeding car in daring footage from a closed training session.
Aiming to prove right the old racing adage of, “if you can jump a car, you can jump a fence”, Walsh took on a machine with as many wheels as a Lamborghini and one that is faster than a Ferrari, (if the car was travelling at 57mph and the Ferrari was travelling at 56mph).
Do we really need to tell you not to try this at home?

This crash course in Aintree fence jumping was organised by Paddy Power, to test the courage and athleticism of horse and rider ahead of the most famous race in the racing calendar, this Saturday.
Don’t worry your little animal rights head though, Ruby and his horse were left unshaken after thankfully leaping safely over the oncoming car. Nobody ever thinks of the car though. It’s filthy, thanks for asking, it will probably take an age to clean those alloys.
Walsh, who is bidding to win the Grand National for a third time this weekend said, “I know the training is a little unorthodox and won’t be everybody’s cup of tea, but the National fences are as tough as they come, so there’s no point putting the brakes on in practice.” He’s a good man for the puns our Ruby.
