Andy Gray: I don’t see Bayern or Barcelona slipping up but here’s a 44/1 double that’s worth a shot

by Andy Gray | April 21, 2015

A winning 6/1 Premier League treble at the weekend leaves Andy in the sort of form that Pep Guardiaola desperately needs if Bayern are to advance to the Champions League semi-finals in tonight’s second leg against Porto.

The German side have been dealing with more off-field accusations than Clitheroe FC this week after their medical team got the hump and walked at being ‘blamed’ for the 3-1 first-leg loss in Portugal. They now need a 2-0 victory at least to advance or the ‘Pep for Etihad’ calls will become even louder.

Barca’s 3-1 away win gives them an easier task on paper at least and as we get to the business end of the season in all competitions the scores on the e-doors are:

Andy Gray 150 – 143 You* (*you plural)

The game is simples. One point is awarded per correct prediction, regardless of the odds associated with it and as we go, we add them all up to see who is smarter. Well, we probably know who is smarter because none of the Paddy Power customers lost their cushy punditry job for making sexually inappropriate remarks, but we want to see who can give the best Champions League betting tips this week. Once more into the crystal-ball gazing.

Andy’s 44/1 Tuesday night double:
Bayern to win 2-0 @ 5/1 | Blaise Matuidi to score anytime for PSG @ 13/2

Bayern Munich v Porto, Tuesday 7.45pm

Porto excelled last week and took Bayern – and the rest of us – by surprise. But it may just have been their Cup final.

Jackson Martinez was fantastic in the first leg but there’s a slight doubt about him and both the full backs (Danil and Alex Sandeo) are suspended while Munich have injury concerns of their own.

There’s been some upset in the German camp with the medical team resigning after being blamed for that defeat in Portugal.

You can excuse every team one bad performance and Pep Guardiola’s side have just about won back-to-back German leagues so the first result may just have been a blip. And they have home advantage.

  • Andy’s bets: Bayern to win 2-0 @ 5/1 | R Lewandowski 1st goalscorer @ 7/2
  • You say: Bayern to win 1-0 @ 9/1 | Thomas Muller 1st goalscorer @ 4/1

Barcelona v PSG, Tuesday 7.45pm

This is a massive ask for PSG. Barca would really need to put in one of the worst performances in their recent history to get turned over here.

If PSG got an early goal it will make it more interesting but I’m sure Luis Enrique will tell his team to to keep it tight. PSG have a better chance of scoring than Porto at Bayern in my opinion and it wouldn’t surprise me if Barca won this second leg 3-1 also.

When Neymar, Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi play it’s odds on one of the three will score and that’s reflected in the anytime scorers’ price.  There’s few players outside these three that score regularly for the Catalans.

Blaise Matuidi is 20/1 to get the first for PSG but there’s a bit of insurance in the 13/2 for him to score at anytime over the 90 minutes. That could be a decent value bet on the night.

  • Andy’s bets: Barcelona to win 3-1 @ 9/1  | Blaise Matuidi to score anytime @ 13/2
  • You say: Barcelona to win 2-1 @ 8/1 | Luis Suarez to be first goalscorer @ 9/2
