While the quality drops more notches than Ch4’s Epsom Derby viewing figures – Saturday’s brief becomes even more urgent as we head into the five-day Royal Ascot smash up that starts on Tuesday.
With a few open-looking handicaps at York, Sandown and Musselburgh the panel need to boost the bank before the annual trip to Berkshire and the inevitable refusal to the Royal enclosure.
Paddy led from the front last weekend with Stravagante (7/2) and Golden Horn (13/8f) at Epsom while Matt rowed in also with Frankie Dettori’s second Derby winner and the impressive Buratino (2/1f) in the 6F sprint.
The John Gosden-trained Waady is feeling most of the love this weekend with 75 per cent of the nominations while Wannabe Yours, Online Alexander and Twilight Son all get 50 per cent of the vote to deliver some weekend cash.
