Matt Chapman: There’s a couple of 6/1 challengers but Legatissimo is the one to beat at the Curragh on Sunday

Derby weekend and glorious weather. Let's hope Matt can help line your pockets for a cheeky Sunday celebration...

I’ll be on Attheraces this morning but my eyes will be firmly on the Curragh in Co Kildare this afternoon with a load of top class action. What a day.

It will be even better if we can bang in a winner or two, and hopefully make Paddy as miserable as he was with Sole Power’s defeat at Royal Ascot. You hear me, Paddy?

There’s only three runners for the Group 3 International at 2.45pm (latest odds here), so every chance to look a fool! Parish Hall is arguably the class act, but he’s disappointing now, and I like British raider AIR PILOT, who is lightly raced and progressive. Ryan Moore is a bonus.

There’s the Group 3 Grangecon for 2yo over 6f at 3.55pm (latest odds here), and the one I like is GREAT PAGE, who really should be unbeaten having been turned over at short odds on her second start. She’s already a Listed winner in Ireland despite being trained by Richard Hannon, and should take the beating.

It’s the Group 1 Pretty Polly at 4.30pm (latest odds here), and I expect a big run from Ribbons (around 6/1) for James Fanshawe. I also expect Diamondsandrubies (around 6/1) to run huge, although she really needs a mile and a half. There’s no doubt LEGATISSIMO is the one to beat, however, after her fine performance in the Oaks. I’m not sure it was a great Oaks, but having landed the 1,000 Guineas she is clearly a classy sort.

The Rockingham handicap at 5pm (latest odds here) is not a Group race, but is well worth a glance as it gives a real chance of a big-priced winner. I’m taking a chance with ZALTY, who is high in the handicap but ran a good comeback race just over three weeks ago.

Trained by David Marnane, Zalty can be a bit slow away and probably prefers 6f, but a big field and strong pace will suit him and he could hit the frame. Back him each way.

Some might argue the 5.30pm is the big race of the day, as it’s the Group 3 Attheraces Curragh Cup! FORGOTTEN RULES (latest odds here) didn’t get home at Royal Ascot, but he should take this valuable prize despite giving weight away.
