Here we go. Five days of Glorious Goodwood blogging and I’m primed to bring Paddy Power to his knees. You hear me Paddy?
Day one starts at 2.00pm with a handicap over nearly one mile and two furlongs. The one I think can run well here at decent odds is BURANO, who crucially has a win on testing ground to his name. He recently ran well for Amanda Perrett at Epsom under Andrea Atzeni who is back on board today.
It’s the Group 2 Lennox over seven furlongs at 3.10pm, and you should lump on TOORMORE here on the basis that if he is ever going to win another decent prize this will be it. I don’t think he’s worthy of his current rating and he was beaten here last year. But this is last chance saloon for James Doyle and Richard Hannon.
Finally, we have to sort out a tricky one mile six furlong handicap at 3.45pm. Your gut feeling is that it will be tough for top weight ASTRONEREUS, but he’s a guaranteed stayer in the ground and this handicap is compressed with less than a stone between top and bottom. The selection is improving fast, and there are some disappointing types in here like Ajman Bridge (up in trip) and Battersea, who has flopped the last two times we’ve seen him.
So here we go, Goodwood 2015. Hoping for a few Yeeehaaas!
