Waterford have suffered just one defeat in 2015, against Tipperary in the Munster final. A Tipperary team which I believe are the ones to beat. I know a lot of people say they aren’t performing to the level needed to be considered potential All-Ireland champions as of yet but I think there is another gear in Tipperary.

Waterford went toe-to-toe with them and there’s a feeling down in Waterford that if they’re ever going to pull of a win over Kilkenny then this may be the year. They’re a young and upcoming team, all the talk around them at this moment is that Croke Park will suit this Waterford team which is backed up with a lot of pace.

Kilkenny are Kilkenny though. They’re the reigning All-Ireland champions but if you are going to catch Kilkenny then your best shot is to do it in a semi-final.

It’s hard to look beyond a win for Kilkenny here but I think it’s going to be an awful lot tighter than people expect. It’s going to take a big performance from Kilkenny to overcome this Waterford team.

I’d be looking at Waterford +3pts at 11/10 in the handicap.

There’s an awful lot of talk surrounding Richie Hogan and whether he starts. He had a back injury. They’re already short Jackie Tyrell and Richie Power. There’s also talk that Michael Fennelly may not play. Those are four massive names and if all four are missing from the team-sheet Derek McGrath will feel he has a great opportunity of overcoming this Kilkenny team.

Both teams have been racking up big scores, although Waterford are a team who would be seen to play very defensively. They are scoring well of late but to have a chance they’re going to have to nullify the scoring threat of TJ Reid and Richie Hogan.

If there are to be goals then it’s TJ Reid for me. He does have a habit of popping with a goal or two and though he’s a good shot to score the first goal at 4/1 I’ll be putting my money on him to score anytime at 5/4.

For Waterford Colin Dunford has been creating a lot of chances, he has bags of pace so Croke Park will suit him. He’s 11/4 to score anytime, which is the bet I’ll be having.
