Andy’s 88/1 Acca
Man Utd to win @ 4/6
Bournemouth v A Villa to draw @ 5/2
Everton to win @ 8/11
Leicester to win @ 19/20
Norwich v Crystal Palace to draw @ 9/4
Chelsea to win @ 2/5
The first game of the new season.
United have brought in some good players but there still looks to be a piece in the jigsaw missing upfront. The de Gea situation is getting critical for them now. He misses today’s early game and that won’t help their chances.
Tottenham have moved a few on from last season, but rather than buying big have only tinkered with their squad. They could still be light up front and will have to watch that as they can’t rely on Harry Kane (below) again all season to get them goals.
Louis van Gaal’s side should make home advantage count.
- United to win at 4/6. A 2-1 scoreline @ 7/1 catches my eye.
Dean Court should be rocking for Bournemouth’s first game in the top flight.
Eddie Howe has brought experience into his squad but they’ll need to gel quickly against the level of opposition they’re now going to face.
Villa on the other hand have lost their best players with Fabian Delph off to Man City and Benteke now wearing the Red of Liverpool but Jordan Veretout could be a player we’ll hear a lot more about this season after arriving from Nantes – one of four French signing s for the Midlands club.
- A draw @ 5/2. There could be goals and 2-2 @ 13/1 could give us a run.
Roberto Martinez needs a big season after last year’s disappointments – but there’s not a lot has happened at my old club during the summer. Tom Cleverley has come in from Villa they’ve lost to Arsenal, Leeds and Villarreal pre-season.
Watford by contrast have brought in about 11 new players under Quique Flores so it’s hard to know how quickly they’ll knit together.
- Take Everton @ 8/11. I fancy a 2-0 margin @ 15/2.
Both of these may struggle this season and new boss Claudio Ranieri has had a decent pre-season in hi s second stint as a Premier League manager.
Dick Advocaat did well to keep the Black Cats up last season but they’ll need to start scoring goals if they want to avoid another relegation dog-fight.
- Leicester can shade this at 19/20. It could be close so 1-0 @ 5/1 appeals.
Alan Pardew’s done a fantastic job at the Eagles and snatching Yohan Cabaye off PSG looks a fantastic bit of business.
Norwich boss Alex Neill has done brilliantly to get his side into the top tier and made some shrewd signings like Robbie Brady from Hull.
- The draw at 9/4 is the safest option. A correct score of 1-1 @ 5/1 is tempting.
Chelsea looked okay against Arsenal in the Community Shield but didn’t carry an awful lot of threat as Arsene Wenger’s side ran out 1-0 winners.
Swansea have done well in a tough pre-season schedule and are no mugs but Jose Mourinho’s (above) record at Stamford Bridge speaks for itself. He won’t tolerate any carelessness from the defending Premier League champions today.
- The Blues to win @ 2/5 looks the play. Maybe by a 1-0 scoreline @ 5/1.
