Andy Gray: Arsenal and Southampton should win but Liverpool don’t inspire me in this 10/1 treble

I'll take the Gunners and the Saints to take all three points but Stoke could hold the Reds at the Britannia.

Arsenal v West Ham, Sunday, 1:30pm

Arsenal did well against Chelsea last weekend in the Community Shield – and I think they’ll take all three points here.

The Hammers have got problems because of their Europa League campaign. Slaven Bilic’s side has played plenty of games but it is going to be tougher and I think the Gunners will collect all three points.

  • Arsenal to win @ 1/3. Correct score 2-0 @ 11/2.

Newcastle v Southampton Sunday, 1:30 pm

I  can see the Saints giving a good account of themselves here. Despite losing Morgan Schneiderlin to Manchester United and Nathaniel Clyne to Liverpool they’ve brought in Jordi Clasie from Feyenoord and Steven Caulker on loan from QPR among others.

They’ve had a really good pre-season and beat Vitesse 5-0 on aggregate in the Europa League qualifiers.

It’s hard to know what we’re going to see from Newcastle this year. Steve McClaren has a tough job on his hands and it may take a while for them to click.

  • Southampton to win @ 13/8. Correct Score 2-1

Brendan Rodgers Liverpool

Stoke v Liverpool, Sunday, 4pm

I don’t know if I’d be confident backing Liverpool on the road just yet. I’d want to know that new signing Christian Benteke is starting but that’s not certain.

One thing they’ll want is to erase is the memory of the embarrassing 6-1 loss to Stoke on the final day of last season but I don’t think Mark Hughes gets the credit for the job he has done at the Britannia.

  • Safest option is the draw @ 23/10. Correct Score: 1-1 @ 11/2
