Let’s get ready to rummmmmmmmmble.
It’s not often you say that in horse racing but the opening day York smash-up between Golden Horn and Gleneagles is the race of the season so far as the Derby winner and 2,000 Guineas victor go toe-to-toe on the Kanvesmire.
For once there doesn’t seem to be much divided opinion between the panel as the ‘never in their lives ridden a racehorse’ columnists Big bad John McCririck, nearly as big Paddy Power, and getting there if he doesn’t cut out the foie gras in the hospitality tent Turftalk Tom are all piling into the favourite.
But our secretive trader has gone for the value in Gleneagles as Team Ballydoyle look to bring up the hat-trick in the opening day feature of the Ebor Festival.
The gang of three also reckon that last month’s Goodwood-scorer Tashaar is on the up in the Great Voltigeur Stakes as they rely on comeback kid Frankie Dettori to close out the CH4 action on day one with a 7/1 double.
Expect plenty of flying dismounts if they’re right.
