The US Open Tennis begins on Monday and Serena Williams will be looking to complete her first ever calendar Grand Slam. Basically the only thing she hasn’t done in her life bar discover the meaning of life. If she wins at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center not only is it a calendar Grand Slam it’s five, yes FIVE, majors in a row. Here are five reasons why we think she’ll complete the Slam.
1. She’s the best in the business
She’s going for five in a row and a calendar Grand Slam. She’s simply the best, better than all the rest. Ohh yeah let’s get a bitta Tina Turner in as well. Ahem moving on. She has been in blistering form this season just powering through people like it’s Wii Sport.
Her all round game is just too strong for everyone else. She dominates on the court. At 34 years of age her movement is the best of everyone, which is both ridiculous and scary. Her serve can cook a Christmas ham it’s that hot.
2. The heat can’t take the Serena kitchen
Everyone is talking about how she’ll only be the fourth person to win a calendar Grand Slam, but she’s already held the ‘Serena Slam’ twice i.e. holding all four major’s simultaneously. The pressure won’t be a major factor to someone of Serena’s quality and with her experience. ‘Pressure? Excuse while I ask my 21 trophies about pressure.’
Serena tends to get better as tournaments go on. She has her patchy matches in the opening couple of rounds like the Heather Watson match at Wimbledon. She could have easily lost that game, but she got through it and went on a war path to the title.
3. Who is going to beat her?
No disrespect to the competition, but in all seriousness who is going to beat her. She is redhot favourite at 10/11 the nearest challenger is Victoria Azarenka at 8/1. It says it all really. Serena is in a tough draw that includes her sister, but with the form she’s showing and the fact she’s going for a four in a row of French Open’s, five in a row for majors and the calendar Grand Slam it’s hard to see her throwing it away.
4. Her record at the US Open is too good
She has been incredible in the US Open in recent years. Four finals in four years and three wins in three. What a way to round off the year it would be. She’d be breaking records all over the shop AND get’s free tickets to any Drake show she wants. The record she has at the US Open won’t just inspire her, it will be in the minds of her opponents. That psychological edge can be the difference between winning and losing.
5. She’s already had an amazing personal 2015 and confidence will be sky high
She’s mowing through everyone on the court, she got a load of support after people were saying her body was too athletic to be sexy. For those people I’ll just leave this here. Yeah..

She’s also in a new relationship with ‘rapper’ Drake and that’s bound to make her happy. I think. When an athlete’s personal life is good, form is good. When it’s in the toilet then their form is in the toilet. She’s happy, she’s brilliant and she’s determined. Good luck to those that get in her way.
