Matt Chapman: This 8/1 shot could hold the key to Saturday’s Cesarewitch at HQ

by Matt Chapman | October 9, 2015

One of the biggest juvenile races of the season at HQ today as the Dewhurst takes centre stage.

So let’s get straight into it and see if we can find a few winners and give Paddy a miserable day. You hear me Paddy?

I’m starting with the Group 3 Autumn Stakes at Newmarket over 1m at 2.35pm. The one I like is GIFTED MASTER who was not stopping over 7f at this track last weekend in a valuable sales contest. Stamina has to be proven, but Hugo Palmer is having a great season and I fancy this one can go in again.

The Dewhurst at Newmarket is over 7f at 3.10pm, and I am all over EMOTIONLESS   who looked brilliant in the Champagne at Doncaster last time. I was there that day and the performance was special for Godolphin. Ibn Malik, who was second that day, runs against Gifted Master.

Finally at Newmarket it’s the staying handicap that is the Cesarewtich over 2m2f at 3.50pm. Usually I would oppose an 8yo, but LOW KEY was impressive when landed the trial here 21 days ago and has only got 4lb extra to carry. Of course this is tougher, but he stays well and comes from a fine yard for winning this race. So come on David Pipe.

Meanwhile, at York check out the 2.50pm, which is the Listed Rockingham over 6f. Have a few quid on DONJUAN TRIUMPHANT , who stays well and goes in the ground. He’s from the Richard Fahey stable that continues to go strong.

Also at York is the big 6f sprint handicap at 3.25pm. It looks impossible but I’m with SUZI’S CONNOISSEUR who deserves to win a good pot after being unlucky at Ascot a couple of runs ago.

I’m hoping he can at least his the frame at decent odds.

So fingers crossed for another big day, and a few Yeeehaaas along the way. Boom!
