Matt Chapman: Make Saturday a night to remember as we go through the Breeders’ Cup 2015 card

Our resident racing pundit Matt Chapman has swapped his fish and chips for a super-size burger and popcorn by travelling stateside for the Breeders' Cup in Kentucky. Luckily he's still made time for the Paddy Power Blog though, and now he's here with his top fanices in each of the big races from Kentucky on Saturday

by Matt Chapman | October 30, 2015

There’s going to be one hell of a party on Attheraces Saturday for the Breeders’ Cup and I’m Stateside to bring you all the news here on my special US Paddy Power Blog. What you want is winners, so let’s go through all the major events.

BC2015-Leaving-Yard

Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies, Saturday 4.05pm

Smallish field and all eyes on SONGBIRD (), who has been awesome in three wins so far, including in two Grade 1 events. She has been working the house down, and the only negative is stall 10. However, I just expect her to smash this lot up.

Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Turf, Saturday 4.45pm

I’m all over LEGATISSIMO () here as a European banker. She has been brilliant this season from a mile to a mile and a half, and this trip is perfect. The draw is ideal, and as long as the ground has dried out a bit more by post time she will take all the beating.

Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Sprint, Saturday 5.25pm

JUDY THE BEAUTY () has been out of form since scoring this race 12 months ago. However, connections have not been disappointed and I expect a much better perofrmance. Hopefully another for Dettori and Ward.

Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint, Saturday 6.10pm

UNDRAFTED () has been beaten over a mile since his brilliant Golden Jubilee success at Royal Ascot. This trip is a bit short, but they will go hard and spread out and I expect Frankie Dettori to come flying through late on Wesley Ward’s runner.

Breeders’ Cup Juvenile, Saturday 6.50pm

NYQUIST () has a horror draw but was outstanding in two Grade 1 wins at Del Mar and Santa Anita and has beaten the reopposing Swipe every time they have met. The selection just looks really good. Now he has to prove it for Mario Gutierrez.

Breeders’ Cup Turf, Saturday 7.30pm

GOLDEN HORN () is the outstanding 3-year-old colt of the year with wins in the Derby, Eclipse, Irish Champion and Arc. He stays strong, goes with some dig and is simply miles better than these if anywhere near his best. The Pizza Man is slow – and he can’t even deliver a meat feast!

Breeders’ Cup Sprint, Saturday 8.10pm

Take a chance here on the massively experienced SALUTOS AMIGOS (). He was in front of one or two of these last time, and is a seven time winner from 22 starts. He’s rock solid in Grade 1 sprints from off the pace, and will be decent odds.

Breeders’ Cup Mile, Saturday 8.50pm

Andre Fabre is a master in this type of race and while his shocking effort at Royal Ascot lives in the memory I like MAKE BELIEVE (), who was good once again when beating Limato at Longchamp in the Foret. Remember he beat New Bay in the Poulains. A clas act from a good draw.

Breeders’ Cup Classic, Saturday 9.35pm

A classic Classic. Everyone wants AMERICAN PHAROAH () to win including me. Tonalist is a solid eachway shot, but it has to be the Triple Crown here to reverse Travers placings with Keen Ice. Come on the Pharoah.

So best of luck. A night when we can all Yeeehaaa! You hear me Paddy?
