Tim Sherwood became the fifth manager to feel the wrath of Randy Lerner since he took over. Villa are playing like a bunch of one legged-toddlers and whoever does actually come in is going to have a massive job on their hands to actually win a game and keep the side in the division.
Who the fans want: David Moyes
The Real Sociedad manager seems to be the favourite amongst the Villa faithful presumably for the job he did at Everton and not at Manchester United. The Scotsman isn’t having the best of times in the Basque, but it seems very unlikely that Moyes will return to go to Villa Park. Who voluntarily goes to Birmingham? His 41 percent win record would be a big improvement on Timmy’s 10 percent win record this season. But it looks increasingly likely that the man Villa fans will get is below.
Who they will get: Remi Garde
The former Lyon manager was the first name seriously touted as Sherwood’s replacement. The former Arsenal midfielder led Lyon to the French Cup and had a win percentage of 51 from his 117 games in charge. His style of play is the same as Arsene Wenger and his hair is infinitely better which will get the Villa fans excited. Lerner has flown out to meet Garde which tells its own tale. Villa’s first skinny French manager could be on the way in soon.
Who they defiantly won’t want: Alex McLeish
The Scotsman was Villa manager for one very bad season for the 2011/12 season. There was protests when he left arch-rivals Birmingham, while he was the manager and there was a city wide party when he left. If you were to offer the Villa fans the choice between McLeish and Josef Fritzl they’d choose Fritzl.
