So this is it! The final day of the Paddy Power extravaganza is upon us at Cheltenham and once again this Sunday I am gunning for Paddy’s cash.
Let’s start with the novices’ hurdle over 2m at 1pm, and the one I like is DRUMLEE SUNSET, who disappointed when favourite to defeat the reopposing Mister Miyagi last time. The selection is now better off at the weights and may cause a little upset.
Next up is the Grade 2 novices’ chase at 1.35pm. I’m on GARDE LA VICTOIRE, who was a devent hurdler rated in the 150s. He’s already a chase winner for Philip Hobbs and can go on to better things.
There are some class acts in the 2.10pm at Cheltenham, which is the Grade 2 Shloer Chase. If SPRINTER SACRE is ever to bounce back to anywhere near his best. This is very winnable, and I’m hoping he wins for the in-form Nicky Henderson.
Then it gets tricky in the 2.40pm, a handicap hurdle over 2m. I’m expecting a good run from MAD JACK MYTTON, who was far from disgraced off 132 for Jonjo O’Neill at Wetherby first time out this season. He’s gone up 4lb for that effort, but has every chance of at least hitting the frame.
I’ve also had a quick look ath the Southern National at Fontwell, due off at 1.50pm. Back last year’s winner GORGEHOUS LLIEGE eachway. He goes well fresh and of course this is ideal. He’s 7lb higher than 12 months ago, but that is not an impossible rise and he’s run well off 119.
So good luck once again, and let’s hope Paddy is a little poorer by the end of Sunday’s card. Yeeehaaa!
