Ruby Walsh: Faugheen will take some stopping at Punchestown and Conal Point is in with a shout at 10/3

Rupert Lamb got to a higher level over fences but jumping just wasn’t his forte. When he made it around he used to win but he ended up on the floor plenty of times.

He won well in Killarney on much drier ground. I’m twenty minutes from Punchestown and we had a lot of rain here last night. The ground would definitely be a worry for him. I think Bentilimar at definitely reached a way higher level as novice over hurdles than anything else in this field. He mightn’t be badly treated.

Sizing John should kick on here. I think Lord Scoundrel has been very well placed by Gordon Elliot to rattle off a hat-trick of wins but Sizing John should prove much too good for him. There’s been plenty of chat about My Hometown but he was disappointing in Naas. Sizing John should collect here.

You’d be hoping that Killer Miller or Wrath Of Titans would start moving up the pecking order of novice chases. Both of them should be able to beat Shantou Flyer who was a good winner of handicap in Cheltenham but before that he was second to Perfect Promise and beat As De Ferbet. That’s just okay form so you’d think that if Killer Miller and Wrath of Titans are going to be decent novices they’ll finish ahead of Shantou Flyer. Of those two I’m going for Killer Miller at .

Faugheen is in great order. If he runs like he’s working he should win.I’m sure Identity Thief will break out to make it a test of stamina, Nicholas Canyon likes to race close to the pace as well. I don’t think Faugheen will lead all the way but I’ll be disappointed if he’s not in front when it counts.

They’re making Blessed King the favourite here and he was beaten in a bumper in Kilbeggan. That probably sets the standard for the race it is. Rollingontheriver placed in a bumper at Newbury but Conal won a point-to-point. He should have a chance in what looks an ordinary maiden hurdle for the time of year.

Shariyan () reappears quite quickly after returning from a long lay-off last week, very quickly actually. A factor that might come in to play. Blow The Doors Off hasn’t run on a long time, Chute Hall has been out of form. Little Haarth is a summer horse. Maybe Steel Wave has a chance if he stays but the 10-7 is really testing that horse’s stamina down at the bottom of the weights. It’s an open looking contest and I’d hate to have to pick the winner of it.

Babbling Stream definitely needs the run. He’s not the easiest horse in the world to train he should have improved a lot with his last run. Our bumper horse was disappointing yesterday so I guess we’re pulling our horns in a bit and not being as bullish. Couer Joyeux has been placed twice, Kings Line cost a lot of money but Babbling Stream has improved a lot for his run so hopefully he’s good enough.
