UFC Vines: Women’s MMA superstar Ronda Rousey suffers devastating 2nd round KO

What many expected to be the next chapter in the Ronda Rousey is Superwoman book ended up being one of the biggest shocks in UFC history. Possibly even bigger than Matt Serra’s KO of George St Pierre at UFC 69.

UFC 193 in Melbourne set all types of new attendance records for the organisation. It was also the first major pay-per-view card topped by two female champions.

Anything else that occurred around this event was immediately overshadowed the second Holly Holm landed the decisive head kick early in the second round. Up until now Rousey has looked unstoppable with her last four defences lasting just over two minutes combined. Then the former female boxing champion threw a big fat spanner in the UFC’s plans by doing the unthinkable.

Holly “The Preacher’s Daughter” Holm is now the women’s bantamweight champion. Testify! The Rousey bubble has been burst, for now, and the build-up to the inevitable rematch could outshine the hype around McGregor v Aldo.
