Bellator may be the Johnson Paint Trophy of MMA events but just because it’s not Champions League level doesn’t mean you won’t see 30-yard screamers and the odd overhead.
On Friday night the Scott Coker run organisation held an event in Oklahoma. Unless you’re such a hardcore MMA fan that you once paid five grand for one of Bas Rutten’s sweaty old jockstraps you’re unlikely to know the majority of fighters who took part in Bellator 146.
That doesn’t matter because you don’t need to know someone’s name to enjoy watching them get knocked out. Here are a couple of entertaining finishes from the main card.
Topping the card Melvin Manhoef got a much needed win with this walk-away KO of fellow middleweight Hisaki Kato.
Brandon Girtz could have walked away after he put Derek Campos on his back just over 30 seconds in to their lightweight clash. Instead he figured he’d make absolutely sure by dropping a few extra hammer fists on Campos just to make sure he wasn’t playing possum. The referee graciously took his time stepping in to allow Girtz to confirm his suspicions.
