It’s more tense at Old Trafford than a family get together on Christmas Day but Paddy Power are in no doubt that Louis van Gaal is a dead man walking.
Manchester United suffered another Premier League defeat when beaten 2-0 by Stoke in the early kick-off on Boxing Day to leave them winless in seven games – and United fans fuming.
With the Old Trafford faithful United now as depressed as anytime under the David Moyes era Paddy Power has added a little extra Christmas cheer to those who backed the eccentric Dutchman to be the next manager sacked in the Premier League by paying out early on LVG getting his P45 saying:
Ho ho ho… Merry Christmas! After today’s defeat Van Gaal’s position at United looks dodgier than cold turkey on Boxing Day so we decided to payout on a Van Gaal exit.
Punters have been piling into Van Gaal to be axed since United lost to Bournemouth despite the former Barca boss being 40/1 at the start of the season to lose his job after guiding the Red Devils back into the Champions League.
But United failed to get out of the group stages of the European club competition leaving rivals Arsenal, Chelsea and worst of all Manchester City flying the flag for the Premier League in the knock-out stages next year.
And with discontent in the dressing room and the jungle drums in the stands beating louder for his dismissal, United entertain Chelsea at Old Trafford in Monday’s live game where all eyes will be on the stands to see if Jose Mourinho is there as an interested party or whether the money on him at to takeover as United’s next boss is correct.
